RAP TEAM Inquiry

We are pleased to announce that BlueFit / LEA has recently commenced the process of developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with the support of Reconciliation Australia. The development and implementation of the RAP is being led by the BlueFit RAP Working Group.

What is a RAP we hear you say?

A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a strategic document that supports an organisation’s business plan. It includes practical actions that will drive an organisation’s contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the communities in which it operates.

Why Develop a Reconciliation Action Plan for BlueFit?

A RAP plan provides the following outcomes for BlueFit and the local communities we serve.

• Provides a roadmap for engaging respectfully with First Nations stakeholders.
• Makes a public commitment to hold the business accountable and motivated to achieve reconciliation goals.
• Provides tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by increasing economic opportunity and supporting First Nations self-determination.
• Increase in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment.
• Builds productive and two-way relationships with First Nations businesses.
• Increased satisfaction for employees, a recent RAP Impact report found that employees who have taken part in at least one RAP activity are more likely to be satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs, compared to those who have not.

BlueFit RAP Engagement Group

We are now calling for expressions of interest from trainees that would like to become a part of the BlueFit RAP development by becoming a member of the BlueFit RAP Engagement Group. The Engagement Group will be invited to attend up to four meetings across the 12 month development period. Meetings are non compulsory and to be attended in the trainees own time. In these meetings members will receive a progress update from the working group and be given the opportunity to collaborate and shape our RAP.

There are also personal benefits of being involved in the RAP Engagement group such as:

• A sense of accomplishment for being involved in doing good for others in the community.
• The opportunity to connect and share ideas with BlueFit employees from other facilities building a network of connections.
• Being a member of a group working towards improving community outcomes builds self confidence and self - esteem.
• There is also evidence that being involved in a community focussed project has mental health benefits, by helping counteract the effects of depression and anxiety.

Anybody wishing to become a member of the Engagement Group will be invited to attend up to four meetings across the 12 month RAP plan development period. Meetings are non compulsory and to be attended in the staff members own time.
